What is a Memory Album?

When my son was born almost 4 years ago, I was quite overwhelmed with the response from my friends and family. I was one of the first amongst my close friends to 'reproduce', and my husband and I were innundated with well-wishes from people far and wide. We received cards, letters, phone calls, text messages, e-mails, bunches of flowers, not to mention the presents ..... it was quite amazing.

 I am a bit of a hoarder, I admit, but I am not a very organised hoarder. So I kept all of these 'well-wishes' on a window sill in our study! The pile grew and grew and eventually I decided that I would like to file them away somehow. A standard photo album with pockets or sticky sleeves was not appropriate since everything was different sizes. So I looked at scrapbooks, but they were either too flimsy or had ghastly covers! I knew exactly what I wanted - a hard back simple book with a cute cover, preferably with his name on, with plain card pages for me to stick things of differing sizes onto and to write things on ..... so I thought, why not make one myself?!

And that is where the idea of the Memory Album was born ...

I have called it a ‘Memory Album’ since it could have many uses.

• It could be a photo album. You could stick the photos on using photo corners or even normal glue if you wanted them stuck in permanently. Mount all those photos that you have stuffed away in a drawer!

   

• It could be a book in which to stick various memories in the lead up to your wedding, such as the special cards or letters you received. - a bit like a scrapbook. Or in which to keep a memento of a special Birthday Party,

   

• It could be a very special present for a relative or dear friend, which you could either give to them empty with your personal message on the front inside page, or you could fill it up with special memories you have shared over the years.

   

• It could even be a book into which you could record special memories of an occasion you would like to landmark. I made one for my own daughter recently when she was born and left it on the table on her Christening Day for everyone to write in. It is now full of lovely comments from everyone, and I stuck photos into it of the day for her to see and cherish when she is older.

   

  IDEAS FOR A MEMORY ALBUM:

   

  Why not have a Personalised Album made for your Baby, with his/her name and date of birth on the cover and all of their personal details listed on the front vellum inlay page? Or a Christening Album so that all of your guests can write a special message to your son/daughter?

  Why don't you commission an album for a Milestone Birthday for a loved one. You could fill up the album with memories for them as a gift, or give it to them empty for them to collate?

  Or would you like an album to give to your friend to record the unforgettable memories of her Hen Weekend?

  Or maybe you would like an Album made up to record The Run-up to your Wedding, or to use as a 58 Guest Book? Or have a special personalised album made to mount the photos of your Friend's Wedding?

  Why don't you commission an album for your parent's Milestone Wedding Anniversary? You could fill it up with all those gorgeous old photos lying about....

  Or how about a Personalised Album to record a Holiday or Trip of a lifetime?

  Or organise all of those Nursery Pictures which come home from school! Or maybe you could entice your child to draw you a picture on a different page every so often to keep a little memory of them for yourself?

  Or even why not fill up a book with all of your child's drawings, favourite photos & little handwritten memories & anecdotes to give to Grandma or a distant relative at Christmas?  If you send me a recent photo of your child I could mount it on the front inside cover of the album.....??!
